Official Rules

NO PURCHASE NECESSARY. Void where prohibited. By entering, each entrant accepts and agrees to be bound by these Official Rules. Failure to comply with these rules may result in disqualification.

SPONSOR. Bob❤️Abishola Watch, Listen and Win” (“Sweepstakes”) is sponsored by WCIU and WLIT (the “Sponsor”), which is solely responsible for the conduct of this Sweepstakes.

HOW TO ENTER. No purchase or payment of any kind is necessary to enter or to win this Sweepstakes. The Sweepstakes begins Monday, 9/23/24 at 8:00PM (CT) through Monday, 10/7/24 at 9:00AM (CT) (the “Entry Period”) unless extended by Sponsor. Sponsor reserves the right to extend the Sweepstakes at any time and will provide notice by updating these Official Rules. Entrants may enter this Sweepstakes by watching Bob❤️Abishola on The U, weeknights at 8:00pm and 8:30pm (CT) during the weeks of 9/23/24 and 9/30/24 and listen for the code word announced during the program. The next morning, at 8:25AM, viewers will have the chance to call Melissa Forman at WLIT radio. A caller will be chosen randomly to talk to Melissa and correctly give her the previous night’s code word to qualify. (Friday’s code word will be given to Melissa on the following Monday morning). Ten people will qualify for the grand prize, which will be chosen randomly on October 7, 2024. All entrants will be required to provide their complete name, phone number, and/or email address or other required information. Sponsor will keep all entrants’ personal information confidential unless disclosure is required by law. The Sponsor assumes no responsibility for entrants not making timely phone calls to the Station or other timed entry as a result of the delays in the Internet stream. Entrants should not rely on streamed broadcasts to participate in any promotion. Online listeners to streamed broadcasts may experience a lag in transmissions due to buffering limitations and other delays in the online streaming of its broadcast signal. Listeners of the online stream may not be able to participate in or may be disadvantaged in participating in on-air promotions and should contact their local station to determine participation.

Limit one entry per person, household address, email address or IP address during the Entry Period. Entrants are permitted to win up to one (1) time during the Entry Period. Duplicate or multiple entries will be disqualified. Use of any automated entry software is prohibited. All entries become the property of Sponsor, and Sponsor reserves the right to use any information submitted by entrants. Sponsor is not responsible for lost, late, illegible, misdirected or mutilated entries, including due to technical/network failures, human error, or any other error or malfunction.

For online entries, entrants agree not to upload, post, or transmit any materials that contain any computer viruses, Easter eggs, worms, Trojan Horses or other harmful component or programming routines that are intended to damage, detrimentally interfere with, surreptitiously intercept or expropriate any system, data or personal information. Any attempt to deliberately damage any website or undermine the operation of the Sweepstakes is a violation of criminal and civil laws, and the Sponsor reserves the rights to seek damages from any person who makes such attempt(s). Entrants also agree not to provide or upload any content which is defamatory, threatening, distasteful, racist, unlawful or otherwise objectionable.

Entry materials that have been tampered with or altered are void. Any questions regarding the number of entries submitted by an individual or authorized account holder of an e-mail address shall be determined by Sponsor in its sole discretion, and Sponsor reserves the right to disqualify any entries by persons determined to be tampering with or abusing any aspect of the Sweepstakes.

ELIGIBILITY. The Sweepstakes is open to all legal residents of the Chicago television viewing area (as defined by A.C. Nielsen) who are 21 years of age or older. Employees and former employees of Weigel Broadcasting, WLIT Radio, iHeart Radio, the United Center, Black Eyed Peas, Interscope Records, Planet Hollywood, Sebastian Maniscalco, Cyndi Lauper, Sony Music Entertainment, Bob❤️Abishola, Warner Brothers Television Distribution, their advertising agencies, consultants, franchisees, suppliers, (collectively, “Sweepstakes Parties”) are not eligible to enter or win, nor are such employees’ family members. In addition, individuals who share a common household with an employee of a Sweepstakes Party or who are in any kind of domestic relationship or partnership with an employee of a Sweepstakes Party (e.g., boyfriends, girlfriends, fiancé, roommates) are not eligible to enter or win this Sweepstakes. By entering this Sweepstakes, entrants agree to abide by all terms of these Official Rules and to be bound by the decisions of the Sponsor. The Sweepstakes is subject to all applicable federal, state, and local laws and regulations, and is void where prohibited or where registration, bonding, or language translation is required.

RANDOM SWEEPSTAKES DRAWING. One winner/s will be selected at random from all eligible entries on Monday, 10/7/24. Odds of winning depend upon the number of eligible entries received. A purchase of Sponsor’s products will not increase the odds of winning. Winner will be contacted by Tuesday, 10/8/24 at 12:00PM (CT) to be notified that they are a winner. Winners will first be notified by e-mail and phone call. Winners will receive an e-mail and in the e-mail, the winner will receive instructions detailing the necessary steps to claim the prize. Prize information and access to all prizes will be given to the winner(s) by WLIT. Winner(s) must meet all eligibility requirements including the execution and delivery of all necessary releases from iHeart and Weigel Broadcasting. If any attempted notification is not successful within seven (7) days, the prize will be forfeited and Sponsor reserves the right to randomly select an alternate winner from among the remaining eligible entries.

PRIZES. ONE (1) GRAND PRIZE and 10 qualifier prizes will be awarded. Grand Prize is A trip for two to see Black Eyed Peas live for their first ever Las Vegas Residency: Black Eyed Peas: 3008 Live at Planet Hollywood Resort & Casino (3667 Las Vegas Blvd S, Las Vegas, NV 89109). Trip includes: roundtrip air fare from Chicago, 2 night hotel stay at Club Wyndam Desert Blue, two tickets to see Black Eyed Peas Travel 2025, trip dates TBD with an approximate retail value of $2,000 USD. Ten (10) additional PRIZES will be awarded. Prize awarded the week of 9/23/24 is: one (1) pair of tickets to see comedian Sebastian Maniscalco live November 8th at United Center, 1901 W. Madison, Chicago IL, with an approximate retail value of $200. Prize awarded the week of 9/30/24 is: one pair of tickets to see Cyndi Lauper, December 5th, at the United Center with an approximate retail value of $200. Approximate retail value of all prizes to be awarded is $4,000 USD. Prizes may not be exchanged or redeemed for cash, sold, or traded.

PRIZE RESTRICTIONS & CONDITIONS. Prizes are non-transferable and subject to terms and conditions of the Sweepstakes Parties. There will be no substitute or cash redemption awarded to the Sweepstakes winners. Sponsor reserves the right to substitute a prize, in which case a prize of equal or greater value will be awarded.

Winner(s) will be solely responsible for any and all local, state, and federal taxes, as well as any license and registration or other fees incurred by participation in the Sweepstakes, including but not limited to transportation costs, gratuities and other items of an incidental nature. Sponsor will report any individual winnings over $600 (in cash or fair market value of goods or services) in a one-year period to the Internal Revenue Service. Winner(s) will receive a Form 1099 from Sponsor if Sponsor reports any winnings to the Internal Revenue Service.

FOR CONCERTS AND OTHER TICKETED EVENTS: Any other expenses or items not specifically listed, including but not limited to, transportation, accommodations, meals, parking and souvenirs, are the responsibility of winner and/or winner’s guest(s). If a guest(s) is a minor, the minor guest(s) must be accompanied by their parent or legal guardian. If the ticketed event or any portion thereof is postponed, rained out, canceled, or for other reasons beyond Sponsor’s control does not occur, the Sponsor will not be responsible for replacing the ticketed portion of prize. Tickets are subject to certain terms and conditions specified thereon, and seat locations (if any) are as solely determined by Sponsor. Lost or stolen tickets will not be replaced. The Sponsor shall not be responsible for any cancellations, delays, diversions or substitution or any act or omissions whatsoever by the venue operator, prize provider or any other persons providing any prize-related services. If travel delays, cancellations or difficulty prevent arrival in time for the event, the Sponsor is not responsible for awarding any compensation in lieu thereof. Tickets must be redeemed as stated in the prize notification or otherwise stated in the Official Rules. Winner must present state authorized identification prior to being awarded the prize. Failure to collect or properly claim any prize in accordance with these rules will result in forfeiture of the prize. If prize is forfeited for any reason, winner will not receive any other prize substitution or compensation, and the prize will remain the property of the Sponsor and will not be awarded, except as provided herein. Winner agrees to accept all space availability requirements established by the venue. Winner and guest(s) must comply with all applicable laws, and any rules and regulations established by the venue. Sponsor and the applicable venue representatives reserve the right to remove or to deny entry to winner (and his/her guest(s)) who engage in a non-sportsmanlike or disruptive manner, or with intent to annoy, abuse, threaten or harass any other person at the event or in any other objectionable behavior. Winner agrees that acceptance of the prize is done so entirely upon their own initiative, risk, and responsibility.

TRIP PRIZE CONDITIONS: If airfare in included in the prize package, round-trip, coach class air transportation for winner and his/her guest(s) shall commence from a major commercial airport near winner’s home to the destination. Actual value of trip may vary based on point of departure and airfare fluctuations. Selection of airline and hotel are solely within Sponsor’s discretion. Meals, gratuities, luggage fees, incidental hotel charges and any other travel-related expenses not specified herein are the sole responsibility of winner and guest(s). Travel for the trip awarded must take place on and/or within the designated dates and is subject to schedule and availability, alternative travel dates will not be provided. If the winner(s) is unavailable for travel on the designated dates, the specified or prize will be forfeited and may or may not be awarded to an alternate winner(s) at the sole discretion of the Sponsor. Exact travel dates and arrangements may be subject to availability whether specified or not. Winner and guest(s) must travel on same itinerary. Guest(s) must sign and return a travel release before any ticketing of travel occurs. Winner and guest(s) must have all necessary identification and/or travel documents (e.g., a valid U.S. driver’s license) required for travel. If the trip requires traveling outside the United States, the winner, upon winning the prize, must have a valid US passport. If the winner does not have a valid US passport upon winning the prize, the trip may be forfeited and an alternate winner will be selected, in the Sponsor’s sole discretion. In accordance with applicable laws, international travelers are required to possess a government issued passport, if a winner does not have or is unable to obtain a passport within any time constraints related to the prize, the winner will be disqualified. Airline tickets are non-refundable/non-transferable and are not valid for upgrades and/or frequent flyer miles. All airline tickets are subject to flight variation, work stoppages, and schedule or route changes. If in the judgment of the Sponsor, air travel is not required due to winner's proximity to the trip destination, ground transportation will be substituted for roundtrip air travel at the Sponsor’s sole and absolute discretion. The difference in value will not be awarded to the prize winner. The Sponsor shall not be responsible for any cancellations, delays, diversions or substitution or any act or omissions whatsoever by the air carriers, hotels, venue operators, transportation companies, prize providers or any other persons providing any prize-related services or accommodations. Additional prize award details and travel information to be provided to the winner at the time of notification. Winner and guest(s) will be required to complete and return the applicable forms and releases. Winner must sign a prize acceptance form, provide the information for their guest(s) which must be at least of the legal age of majority in their state, a W-9 form, an affidavit or verification of eligibility, and a liability/publicity release (where permitted) signed by both the winner and guest(s). Winner(s) and guest(s) are also responsible for obtaining travel insurance (and all other forms of insurance) at their option and hereby acknowledge that the Sponsor has not and will not obtain or provide travel insurance or any other form of insurance. Lost, stolen or damaged airline tickets, travel vouchers or certificates will not be replaced or exchanged. If a winner cannot be contacted or is disqualified, the Sponsor reserves the right to determine an alternate winner in its sole discretion. Unclaimed prize(s) will not be awarded. Certain travel restrictions and blackout dates may apply. Any and all airport transfers, ground transportation, meals, incidentals, gratuities, phone calls, luggage fees, travel insurance and applicable taxes (including, but not limited to all local, state and federal taxes) and any and all other expenses not specifically mentioned herein are solely the responsibility of the winner. If, for any reason, any part of the trip package is canceled or shall become unavailable, postponed or canceled, the Sponsor shall have no further responsibility for that portion of the prize and the prize will be awarded without the inclusion of the item on the same itinerary. The Sponsor is not responsible for late, lost, damaged or stolen luggage. The Sponsor is not responsible for any travel delays, flight cancellations or difficulty. If travel delays, cancellations or difficulty prevent arrival in time for any and all elements of trip, the Sponsor is not responsible for awarding any compensation in lieu thereof. Any changes to completed travel arrangements, once booked, are the sole responsibility of the winner, and are solely at the winner’s expense. All prizes or prize vouchers must be redeemed as stated in the prize notification or otherwise stated in the Official Rules. Failure to collect or properly claim any prize in accordance with these rules will result in forfeiture of the prize. If forfeited for any reason, winner will not receive any other prize substitution or compensation, and the prize will remain the property of the Sponsor and will not be awarded, except as provided herein. Winner agrees to accept all blackout dates, space availability requirements, etc. established by the Sponsor’s prize partner(s), such as hotels, airlines, trains, ships, concert or event venues etc. Winner and guest(s) must comply with all applicable laws, and any rules and regulations established by the Sponsor’s prize partner(s), if any; such as hotels, airlines, trains, ships, concert or event venues etc. Winner agrees that acceptance of any trip taken as a prize is done so entirely upon their own initiative, risk, and responsibility. BY ACCEPTING PRIZE, WINNERS ACCEPT THE INHERENTLY DANGEROUS NATURE AND RISK IN ANY TRAVEL OR TRANSPORTATION, SUCH RISK INCLUDING PERSONAL INJURY AND/OR DEATH, ACKNOWLEDGES THAT HIS/HER PARTICIPATION IN THE PRIZE EVENT IS VOLUNTARY, ACKNOWLEDGES THAT THERE ARE NATURAL FACTORS AND OCCURRENCES WHICH MAY IMPACT ON OR AFFECT THE SAFETY OF THE ACTIVITIES HE/SHE IS PARTICIPATING IN AND HE/SHE ASSUMES THE RISK OF SUCH FACTORS AND OCCURRENCES AND AGREES THAT THE SPONSOR AND RELEASED PARTIES SHALL NOT BE IN ANY WAY RESPONSIBLE FOR ANY RESULTING INJURY AND/OR DEATH.

CONDITIONS AND RESTRICTIONS APPLY. Winner(s) must continue to comply with all terms and conditions of these Official Rules and winning is contingent upon fulfilling all requirements. Proof of U.S. residency, age, and identity are required to claim a prize. Winner(s) are subject to verification by Sponsor, whose decisions are final and binding in all matters related to the Sweepstakes. An entrant is not a winner of any prize unless and until entrant’s eligibility has been verified and entrant has been notified that verification is complete. In the event that a winner is determined to be ineligible or fails to respond to Sponsor within seven (7) days of notification, the Prize will be forfeited and Sponsor reserves the right to randomly select an alternate winner from among the remaining eligible entries. Sponsor reserves the right to terminate the Sweepstakes without awarding the prizes if no eligible winner(s) or alternate winner(s) claim the prizes within the required time period.

Winners will be required to sign and return an Affidavit of Eligibility, Release of Liability, Publicity Release and Letter of Indemnification [and depending on prize value, a W9] within one week of notification of being a winner. In the event that a winner fails to execute and return a liability release and affidavit of eligibility [except where prohibited] within one week, [seven (7) days] of notice of winning, their prize may be forfeited and Sponsor may randomly select an alternate winner from among the remaining eligible entries. If a winner fails to claim their Prize within one week, it will result in the forfeiture of the Prize and a new drawing may be held from the remaining eligible entries at the sole discretion of Sponsor.

By entering, the winner is consenting to the use of their name, likeness, and/or biographical information for advertising and promotional purposes without additional consideration, including any in-studio appearances, unless prohibited by law. Names and e-mail addresses of Sweepstakes entrants may also be used for future marketing solicitations by Sponsor, unless the entrants opts out of such marketing uses [if applicable].

Sponsor explicitly disclaims any and all warranties of any kind, including but not limited to, implied warranties of merchantability, fitness for a particular purpose, and non-infringement. The Sponsor and/or Sweepstakes Parties shall not be liable or responsible for those guarantees or warranties made or offered by advertisers, partners, manufacturers or suppliers, including those related to the Prize. Under no circumstances shall Sponsor be held responsible or liable for use of the information and/or products supplied and/or made available through the promotion or for errors or anomalies resulting in the unintended or erroneous participation, award of any prize or other benefits under the jurisdiction of these sweepstakes rules.

LIMITATION ON LIABILITY: By participating in this Sweepstakes, all entrants and prize winners agree that Sponsor’s subsidiaries and affiliates and each of such entities’ respective officers, directors, agents and employees are not responsible or liable for any injury, loss, illness, litigation or damage arising from or in connection with Sweepstakes or acceptance, possession, use or misuse of prize. In the event that any dispute arises regarding the meaning or interpretation of these Official Rules, entrants agree that the dispute shall be resolved by applying the laws of Illinois and that it shall be resolved by and within the state or federal courts of that state.

Sponsor will not be responsible for lost, late, damaged, defaced, incomplete, stolen, illegible, indiscernible, mutilated, illegally obtained, postage due or misdirected entries, or for any typographical or other error in the printing of the offer, administration of the Sweepstakes, or announcement of the prize and/or all Sweepstakes-related materials. Sponsor offers no assurances, warranties, or guarantees that the promotion in any media, including but not limited to on-air, text/mobile phones and websites, will be uninterrupted or error-free and does not promise the accuracy or reliability of any information obtained through this Sweepstakes. Sponsor will not be liable, and is not responsible, for damages of any sort connected to participation in or inability/failure to participate in the Sweepstakes, whether the damages are direct, indirect, special, incidental, or consequential.

SPONSOR’S RESERVATION OF RIGHTS: These Official Rules are subject to modification by Sponsor. In the event of a dispute, all decisions made by Sponsor are final and binding. Sponsor reserves the right, in its sole discretion, to disqualify any person who tampers with or abuses the entry process, or who otherwise acts in violation of these Official Rules. In the event of a computer, telephone failure, or any other circumstances beyond the control of Sponsor, where it becomes impracticable to award one or more Prizes, or due to force majeure or non-authorized human intervention that compromises or affects the administration, fairness, integrity, or proper conduct of the Sweepstakes, Sponsor may, in its sole and absolute discretion, determine not to award any such Prize or cancel, terminate, or modify this Sweepstakes.

PRIVACY POLICY/DISCLOSURES OF INFORMATION. Sponsor may collect and use personal information that entrants provide to enter the Sweepstakes to actually conduct the Sweepstakes and contact the potential winner(s). Personal information includes any information that can be reasonably linked to a specific individual, including name, postal address, and telephone number. Sponsor (including any successors or assigns) may use names and e-mail addresses of Sweepstakes entrants for future marketing solicitations by Sponsor, unless the entrant opts out of such marketing uses. Otherwise, no personal information that Sponsor collects in connection with the administration of the Sweepstakes will be sold or given to anyone who may contact entrants for any purpose not related to the sweepstakes [if applicable]. If a Prize winner chooses to submit a photo to the The U staff, they do so understanding that photos may be used at the sole discretion of the The U teams – including on-air, online and social media promotional purposes.
